ARPO began operations in 1974 as "Fabrica de portelan de menaj", becoming one of the most important porcelain factories in Romania.
In its heyday (the 1980s), it employed around 1,500-2,000 workers and produced 18 million pieces a year, exporting 75% to major European and global countries. More than 120 designs were created for tableware, coffee, and tea sets, as well as vases and decorative objects.
After 1989, the factory was privatized and then closed due to financial difficulties. In 2009, it was sold, converted into a warehouse, and then demolished.
Therefore ARPO was a short lived factory from just 1974-2009 which means it will become harder to find any of their items as the years go by which continue to be appreciated on the global collectors' market for their aesthetic and historical quality.
