Tesla rotary phone, 1940-1950

Czechoslovakia 1940-1950, brand Tesla, material bakelite, cm 24x16x14

Vintage landline telephone, in bakelite, black colour, TESLA K “Karlin” brand (logo inside), model 5 FP 120 01. It is the Czech version (this one is from Prague) of the German W28 telephone. 40-50s. It rings, the microphone works but you can hear it intermittently due to a problem probably related to the wire. Non-original thread. Sheath on the bottom of the cornet baked by time.

It was originally produced by Elektrotechna Praha under license from the German company Siemens & Halske. After nationalization the plant was incorporated into the unified Tesla company. Since 1946, telephones have been produced under the Tesla brand in Karlin, Prague.

A version without a dial, the 5 FP 120 81, was also produced.

This type of telephone won the design competition “for the oldest collectible household appliance” in 2009.
