Prandoni was an Italian company that manufactured, both internally and as a subcontractor, electronic audio recording equipment, televisions, tape recorders, and turntables. Headquartered in Milan, it had production facilities in Cassano d'Adda and Treviglio.
Its logo consisted of the name Prandoni, in capital letters, with the initial P in a larger, negative font within a black square.
It also used various secondary brands, such as Trans Continents and Nuclear.
The company was founded in 1946 by Dario Prandoni, initially as a very small workshop for repairs and the production of assembled components.
As early as 1948, a building was purchased in Cassano d'Adda, at Via Mazzini 13, to serve as a production facility dedicated to the assembly of radios, which were distributed throughout Italy. In 1956, due to increased demand, a second factory was opened in Treviglio, at Viale Montegrappa 16. It was later moved to Via Montello 31, and was subsequently expanded.
The son of Dario Prandoni, the company's founder, Giorgio, sold the business to Thomson France in the mid-1990s.
Of particular interest is the 1967 article by Carlo Grimaldi, which you can read below.
