This rare 5000-piece puzzle "Corno Banderuola, Grindelwald Switzerland" No. 98705.6 by F.X. Schmid, made in Germany showcases the breathtaking Swiss landscape.
The puzzle, a game widely played throughout the world, was invented by the London cartographer John Spilsbury. The first puzzle he created consisted of a world map that he glued to a wooden board; subsequently with the help of a hacksaw he separated the individual nations faithfully following their borders.
As the game spread and began to be appreciated by the public, the difficulty and above all the quality increased. For almost three centuries, since its invention, the puzzle continues to fascinate young and old. It is a timeless game, not subject to current fashions; suffice it to say that making puzzles was one of Einstein's favorite hobbies.
